 The Petrified Wood Research Institute, in collaboration with the Khorat Global Geopark and the Department of Mineral Resources, held a short training course on holistic geology for the establishment of a geopark on August 15-16, 2024, at the Sirindhorn Building Conference Room, the Petrified Wood and Mineral Resources Research Institute, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University.

The atmosphere was filled with knowledge and fun throughout the two days. Participants gained valuable knowledge and experience from expert speakers from various fields. The first day led to the official opening ceremony, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Prathuang Jintasakul, Director of the Khorat Geopark, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthinee Thongdee, Director of the Petrified Wood Research Institute. In the morning, participants took a basic knowledge test, listened to a course introduction, and a lecture on "Psychological Processes for Community Participation" by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthinee Thongdee, Deputy Director of the Khorat Geopark and Director of the Petrified Wood Research Institute, and Ajarn Nirawit Phiarat, Head of the Khorat Geopark Museum and Deputy Director of the Petrified Wood Research Institute.

In the afternoon, participants broadened their horizons with a lecture on "Geological Fundamentals for Geopark Establishment" by Dr. Pradit Nule, a specialist geologist. Office of Mineral Resources Region 2, Department of Mineral Resources, and Dr. Nares Satyarak, Senior Geologist, Geological Expert, Subcommittee on Field Assessment of Thailand Geopark, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Wighanes Songtham, Science Committee of Khorat Geopark, on the topic of "Geological Prominence for Geopark Establishment"
