Mueang Khaek Stone Sanctuary
This site is a Khmer Hindu or Bhraman religious complex that was built in approximately 971 A.D. The site was used for ritual offerings to Shiva. The temple was built from sandstone and bricks. It consists of 3 pagodas built on the same base, with the front facing north, and is surrounded by a moat. This site is approximately 500 meters from Lam Takhong River and approximately 22 kilometers from the sandstone quarry. At present, Prasat Mueang Khaek is used for an important provincial fair, the traditional Kin Khao Kam (Traditional dinner) fair during March of each year.
