This MOU was signed at the meeting room of the Northeastern Petrified Wood and Mineral Resources Research Institute, Chaloem Phrakiat Building, Suranaree Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District. Nakhon Ratchasima Province, on November 22, 2019, between the Khorat Geopark and 13 model communities in the Khorat Geopark area, including:
1. Khao Chan Ngam Prehistoric Rock Paintings Geopark Community, Sikhio District2. Khao Kestata Ban Khao Yai Thiang Geopark Community, Sikhio District3. Khao Kestata Ban Khlong Chaeng Geopark Community, Sikhio District4. Khao Kestata Ban Pha Bukha Geopark Community, Sikhio District5. Tai Yuan Cultural Way of Life Geopark Community, Sikhio District6. Khao Kestata Ban Dong Mafai Geopark Community, Sung Noen District7. Lam Takhong Ban Takhong Long Geopark Community, Sung Noen District8. Ban Som Kob Ngam Stonecutting Geopark Community, Sung Noen District9. Ban Khlong Khwang (Wat Phra Non) Dvaravati Civilization Geopark Community, Sung Noen District10. Lam Takhong Geopark Community Tourism, Ban Nam Cha, Kham Thale So District11. Lam Takhong-Lam Boriboon Geopark Community Tourism, Ban Phon Sung, Mueang District12. Phanom Wan Historical Site Geopark Community Tourism, Mueang District13. Ten Species of Ancient Elephants Geopark Community Tourism, Tha Chang, Chaloem Phra Kiat DistrictThe fourteen agencies agreed to cooperate in developing community-based tourism products and services, as well as in caring for, preserving, and sustainably conserving natural and cultural resources, including fossil and paleontological resources. This will advance the Korat Geopark towards UNESCO Geopark status through fair participation by local communities, owners of the resources, and ultimately achieving world-class status as a UNESCO Triple Crown destination. This will provide lasting benefits to local communities.
