Khorat Geopark, Khorat Fossil Museum, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University and Friends of Fossil Forests invite citizen scientists and nature enthusiasts to join a global mission! 
City Nature Challenge 2026: Khorat Paleontopolis

Come and help us document biodiversity using the iNaturalist app within the "Khorat Paleontopolis" area (covering a 20 km radius around the Thao Suranaree Monument), a unique landscape where fossils are found in every direction across Nakhon Ratchasima.

 Pre-Event Schedule:
[Pre-Event] March 31 – April 1, 2026 (08:30 – 16:30)
Learn how to use iNaturalist for data collection and join a Bioblitz experience shared by expert researchers. Exploration around Khorat Fossil Museum and various Geosites within Khorat Geopark.

[Main Event & Exploration]
 April 24, 2026 (08:00 – 12:00): Nature exploration at Dino Forest, Khorat Fossil Museum, Suranaree Subdistrict.
 April 24 – 27, 2026: Free exploration across the entire Khorat Paleontopolis area.

 Special Activities:
 Enhance your biodiversity survey skills
 Discover the flora of the Deciduous Dipterocarp Forest
 Explore freshwater ecology
 Experience nature walks and birdwatching

 Participation is FREE! (Please bring your own food and water).
 Equipment provided for loan: Birdwatching binoculars, butterfly nets, etc.
 Limited slots available to ensure a safe and high-quality experience.

If you cannot join our organized sessions from April 24–27, you can still participate as a citizen scientist by exploring on your own! Simply join the project on iNaturalist and start recording within the 20 km radius of the Thao Suranaree Monument.
